CRAWFORDSVILLE — Adria E. Stewart, 84, Crawfordsville, formerly of Covington, died at 7:24 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in Ben Hur Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. She was born April 10, 1917 in Heltonville, the daughter of Noble and Maude Hawkins Ross. She married Stacey J. Stewart May 21, 1928 in Bedford. He preceded in death Jan. 27, 1987. She was a retired nurses aid. She worked for many years in the Covington and Crawfordsville area. She was a 1935 graduate of Heltonville High School. She also enjoyed sewing She was a member of the Gateway Penecostal Church in Crawfordsville and a lifetime member of the Alamo O.E.S. Survivors include: two sons, Merle (Liz) Stewart, Cave City, Ky. and Richard (Kay) Stewart, Covington; three daughters, Wanda (Jim) Miller, Crawfordsville, Frieda (Don) Strong, Lafayette and Wanita (Greg) LaTourette, Gessie; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a step great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Winford Dale; a grandson; a granddaughter; three brothers, Arthur, Aubrey and Odoff; and a sister, Audrey. Gravesite services were at 1 p.m. Monday in Hansen Cemetery, Guthrie, with the Rev. Venon Dowell officiating. DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. – jlr
